“Dreamcatchers” are magical objects.
Through their giant version, the work Sweet Dreams tries to symbolically repair the dreams of the Sambre river, of the boatmen but especially of their children. Made from old steering wheels, also called “macaroon”, from dismantled barges and rope used on boats, dreamcatchers symbolically ward off bad dreams to keep only positive dreams that bring hope. The “knotting / weaving” which is part of the boating tradition is here mixed with another much more distant tradition. Each dreamcatcher has a different name referring to the name of the barge the helm came from, preceded by the generic name Sweet Dreams. »
Dreamcatchers also capture luck and happy coincidences.
